Biography
Since 2001, Beatrice Weder di Mauro is Professor of Economics at the University of Mainz and member of the German Council of Economic Experts.
As a result of her work at some of the world's leading institutions, she is recognized as a global authority on economic policy.
From 2002-2004 she was a member of the Board of Macroeconomic Advisors of the Swiss Federation, advising the Swiss government on economic policy.
In June 2004 she was appointed a member of the German Council of Economic Experts which advises the German government on economic policy and economic development. She is the first woman and the first non-German to hold this position. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Roche.
Previously Weder di Mauro had also worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (- with the responisibility of developing the monetary systems of countries like Kirgistan, Aserbaidshan and Romania -), the World Bank in Washington, and the OECD Development Centre.
She is an affiliate at Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London. She speaks English, German, Spanish and Italian.
