Biography
Inma Shara studied composition and instruments at the conservatoriums of Bilbao and Vitoria in the spanish Basque country. She then continued her education at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música in Madrid, where she studied Orchestra Conducting. Shara graduated with Honors and as best of her class, which granted her a scholarship to work with the famous conducters Sir Colin Davis and Alexander Rahbari, to prefectionize her skills.
She was admitted to the New York University and did a course in Advanced Instrumental Conducting, comparing different techniques of famous conductors like Toscanini, Karajan, Bernstein and many others. Under the supervision of the renowned pedagogue Dinu D. Ghezzo, responsible head of the University's Music department, she wrote her doctoral thesis about conducting. At the same time Shara pursued her composing, taking several courses and recording a CD with her own works.
In collaboration with Zubin Metha and thanks to the support of the Basque government, Inma Shara could work on symphonies and operas, ranging from barroque, classicist and romantic style to modern composition of the 20th century.
Inma Shara also pursued another hobby: In collaboration with great orchestra conductors like Paul Gemignani (Broadway and American Theater Orchestra), Jonathan Séller (Harvard University Orchestra) and Anton Coppola from the Broadway Orchestra, she recorded the music for movies like Titanic, Jurassic Park, US Air Force 1 and many others.
Since 2007 Inma is a spokesperson for the Swiss Watch Brand Vacheron Constantin that sponsored a charity concert which she conducted and at which the spanish queen Sofía was present. The earnings of this concert were donated to the Reina Sofía Fund for Alzheimer.
