Biography

When I was first confronted with Füllsacks' Smartphone based "Job Sharing Doodle" I was truely fascinated - should it really possible to daily distribute and assess the value of the available working time in a bottom-up process amongst a defined group of people? If more group members are willing to do a certain job in the given time, its value drops - the less people are interested to work, the higher the value of the available working time. Like this the decision of which value to attribute to their time lies in everybodys' own hands.

Of course there are limits to the implementation of this model but it offers a new and fresh look on the old schemes of work distrbution as well as it gives the possibility to self-consciously decide how somebody spends their own time, based on the well-known model of value assessment in free markets. It is also an alternative to the idea of a basic income spread throughout society in a way of indiscriminate distribution.

Manfred Füllsack is a Social Scientist, lecturing at the University of Vienna, with the focus on work, knwoledge, social theory as well as the economic and social history of Russia.
