Biography

"It may seem strange but I think my views of people has become more kind with all those horrible moments I have experienced throughout my travels into war-zones and during the research to my books", Thomas Seifert says. "Because ultimately I have learned that the human nature is fondamentally good and life itself will blossom under the most inacceptable situations."

So "the good always win" as we know it from Hollywood - movies. Words from the mouth of somebody who has seen more dead in the last ten years than most of us will ever see in our whole lives. And as the news are full with notices about various kinds of crisis - from economic to ecologic to political and social - Thomas Seifert has decided to finally share his side of the medal with us and SPEAK FOR HOPE. Because there is a learning in everything and as human beings we should always take away the best.

"I have travelled war-zones and stayed at the playgrounds of millionaires, I've reported from slums in Bombay as well as the G20-Meeting in Seoul. I'm able to connect the dots and I'm trying help people making sense of it all", Seifert defines what he wants to achieve.

When you start talking with  Thomas Seifert, there is no "natural end" to the discussion as he is a never-ending source of experience and knowledge and most importantly: INSIGHT.

Seifert is an international correspondent with the Austrian daily newspaper „Die Presse". His reporting includes the Balcans, the Russian Federation (he reported the war in Chechnya in 1999 and 2000 from Grosny both from the Russian and the Chechen perspective) Africa, the Middle East and Asia. He has filed stories from New York in the aftermath of 9-11 and crossed the border to Afghanistan on 10-11 where he reported the fall of the Taliban from Kabul. Seifert  reported the war in Iraq from Baghdad in March/April 1999 and celebrated his 35th Birthday on April 9, 2003 on Firdous Square, as Saddam Husseins statue fell. He went back to Iraq and Afghanistan several times.

His book „Schwarzbuch Öl" („The Black Book on Oil"), which he co-authored together with Klaus Werner came out in 2005. It was a bestseller and was translated into Arabic, Italian, Dutch and Spanish. For this book, he did research in Iraq, Iran, U.A.E., Kuwait and Saudi-Arabia. He has since broadened his focus to Asia (China, India, and the Korean Paninsula) and is currently working on a book project on the Pacific Era and the implications of the rise of Asia for the European Union and the world.

The latest book of Thomas Seifert, "Schwarzbuch Gold ("The Black Book on Gold"), published in August 2011, treats again one of the hottest topics of our times.

His speaking style is highly engaging, non-hierarchical and full of visual material which he brought back from his travels. His audiences reach from Humans to Androids and HumAnimals, as he states it: Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Students, NGO-workers, Bankers & Monks, Militants & Peaceniks.
